Getting Deep

I'm going to do something I promised I'd never do. I promised myself years ago that I would never blog about religion or politics so that I wouldn't offend anyone, but I am so tired of hiding behind trying to be politically correct. This blog is about our lives, and in the process of writing about our lives I've been leaving a big, gaping hole where our religion fits in.

Today we had the opportunity to see the most wonderful things. My nephew Wyatt was able to be blessed by his Grandfather, and his brother (my other nephew) CJ and my sister in law, Amanda were both able to be baptized. I just love going to religious events, they strengthen my testimony so much.

It may not be shocking to you that a little family from Utah is LDS. We are far from a traditional LDS family; Bubba and I met when we were both inactive, we were married by an LDS Bishop and are working our way to our temple marriage. Our faith in our belief is true, because we've both lived outside the faith and the principles of the gospel and have been able to come to realize on our own terms the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I know, in my heart of hearts that what I believe is true. I've known my whole life, and it would be an understatement to say that the adversary has been working hard on me the last few years. There have been many moments in my life where I have been shown firsthand the works of Christ and the blessings from his Gospel.

I know that my Redeemer lives and that he loves all of us very much. I know that he died for our sins, and to this day, I still cannot even fathom what that may have been like. I know that he knows us, he knows our grief, he knows our pain, and he knows the real us.

I'd like to take a moment to invite you to have a "Sunday Moment," by either sharing YOUR testimony of the Savior below (any religion, anybody, nothing negative or hurtful because you WILL be deleted and blocked if you're nasty), to check out my Pinterest Board, full of lots of great quotes, images and ideas, and to check out the LDS Church's website.

  1. You are awesome for posting this! I never know if I should post about religion or thoughts and beliefs either. Congrats to you and your husband for working towards a temple marriage! Keep working towards it, it is worth it! I was previously married in the temple so it took me a long time before my husband and I could get sealed but it was so worth it. :) You're great!

The Church is true! How could something this good be a lie?

  3. What a beautiful testimony. I really enjoyed it. My daughter was baptized this Saturday (I am LDS too). Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed capturing a bit of your heart :).

  4. I've had such mixed feelings about sharing religious and political beliefs on my site. I do it because in some ways it feels to me like there isn't a point to me doing a blog unless I'm willing to write about whatever I want to write about, without regards to how many people will stick around or not. On the other hand, I do get nervous about the rejection from others.

In the homeschooling blogosphere, being religious and speaking very religiously is the norm, and sometimes there is more of a risk of rejection that comes with speaking doubts.

Now, off I go to read what a temple marriage is.
