The Kids Car Playlist

*This post originally was posted as a guest post for Kera over at Nugget on a Budget. I really enjoyed writing this post and wanted to post it here for my readers to check out, comment and add their comments!

One thing I never considered when I was pregnant was what we would listen to in the car when I was driving with the baby. I always listened to all types of genres, and some were admittedly worse than others, but it just wasn't something I considered until one day I saw my son dancing in the back seat to Katy Perry.
And that's when I began to REALLY listen to the lyrics.

Music nowadays just isn't kid friendly, so I began a semi-crazy hunt to find and create a playlist for him. Desperate I turned on Radio Disney, and was disappointed to find out that they played the EXACT same (and unedited music) my Top 40 station played. That's not the radio Disney I remember!

The decision was final... we needed to create the baby a CD for the car, and one that wasn't about to drive us completely crazy! After some tweaking, testing, and learning from a few commutes with the kiddo, here is our playlist.

As you can tell, we have a young one, so this playlist is for those younger ages. A LOT of these suggestions came from my husband and I, and we tested each song with our little guy to see how much he liked each one. If he didn't dance or at least smile, it didn't make the cut.

Hopefully this playlist will provide some inspiration or ideas as to what you could add to your playlist! I'd love to hear what you suggest, we'd love to expand our playlist!

  1. I don't have a kid yet, but when I do, I'll probably be doing the same thing. Like you, I listen to just about everything right now and I know I won't be listening to some of it in a few years for this reason.

Love the playlist. Great song choices!
